NSW Government Increases Dwellings in Kellyville Precinct
I doorknocked quiet residential streets in the vicinity of Kellyville Station to let residents know that the NSW Government is increasing the amount of dwellings from 22,000 to 43,000 in the Bella Vista and Kellyville Precinct.
Each resident I spoke to was truly shocked at the scale of the plans, and many did not know about them at all.
The changes will mean the precinct will have a population density of over 12,000 people per square kilometre which is comparable to Surry Hills, with parts of the precinct earmarked for densities over 28,000 people per square kilometre which would be comparable to Haymarket or Green Square.
This proposed increase in density has not come with an appropriate increase in infrastructure. The plan locates just one primary school and no high schools within the 43,000 dwelling precinct.
No extra playing fields have been allocated for the additional 21,000 dwellings. Old Windsor Road is proposed to remain as a two lane road instead of being upgraded to three lanes.
If you believe that the proposed plans make this area one of the most dense areas in Sydney, or that the proposed infrastructure upgrades are insufficient, can I strongly encourage you to view the plans and put in a submission here https://www.planningportal.nsw.gov.au/draftplans/exhibition/kellyville-and-bella-vista-state-led-rezoning-proposal
There is just one week left before the submission deadline of the 9th of August so make sure you let your voice be heard.
