Early Morning House Fire in Colin Lane, Carlingford
Right after midnight, emergency services responded to a house fire at a single-level residence in Carlingford on Thursday, 19 September 2024.
According to emergency services, the fire originated in the garage and caused significant damage to the property.
At around 12:21, a loud bang was heard from the garage, prompting the occupants to investigate. Upon discovering flames, they attempted to extinguish the fire but were unsuccessful. The fire quickly spread, engulfing the garage and moving through the house.
Emergency services were alerted, and officers from The Hills Police Area Command (Hills PAC), along with multiple Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) units, arrived on the scene around 12:31.
FRNSW initiated efforts to extinguish the fire, while the police found the three occupants trapped in the backyard. Officers forcibly opened the rear fence panels to assist the occupants to safety.
According to Hills PAC, Paramedics treated one occupant for minor burns and smoke inhalation before transporting them to Concord Hospital for further treatment. The other two occupants were assessed at the scene and found to be uninjured. A neighbour was also treated for minor smoke inhalation.
The fire was brought under control and extinguished by 01:26.
FRNSW determined the likely point of origin to be the garage, with an electrical cause suspected. Fire investigators will conduct a thorough examination during daylight hours to confirm the cause and origin of the fire.
A crime scene was established.
