Hills United Men Battle To Stay in NPL

Hills United FcIt is a tough battle ahead for Hills United who are keen to avoid being relegated in the NPL Men’s football championship. The Hills team slumped to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of St George City last weekend.

This leaves Hills United stuck one place above the bottom and they have to pull out something special in their last games if they wish to stay in the top rung next season. The Hills defence was breached thrice in the first half as St George romped to a 3-0 advantage by the breather.

Hills keeper Ryan Wood prevented the scoreline from becoming 4-0 when he stopped a penalty from Jason Romero in the second half. And Hills United scored a consolation goal when substitute Thomas Lopez made it 3-1 in the 81st minute.

Seasoned Hills coach Luke Casserly said it was a tale of two halves for his battling side. “It was a tough game, they were all over us in the first half,” Casserly said. “They were all over us on the ball and anticipated things which made it tough.

“You have to take your hat off to them, we will need to regroup and do what we need to secure three points next week.” Hills United are hosts to Marconi Stallions this Saturday, August 10, at 7pm.
