Hills Shire Library Service

The Hills Shire Library Service is hitting the road. The brand new Library Caddy was officially launched at Bella Vista Farm on Sunday, April 3 to the delight of children, parents and guardians.

The new vehicle will allow Council’s Library Services to travel to more places around The Hills Shire, which in turn will provide more opportunities for residents to engage with this important and much-loved service.

Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Peter Gangemi thanked the NSW Government and the State Library of NSW for their Public Infrastructure Grant (2019-2020), which helped Council to purchase the vehicle and fit it out specially for multiple uses.

“This new vehicle will allow our library services to go more places, including to the remote areas of the Shire and to our new releases areas, such as Box Hill and North Kellyville.

Many residents in these parts have to travel some distances to access their local library and this new caddy will make it that much easier for them to engage with this wonderful service,” Mayor Gangemi said.

“It’s also packed with exciting features, such as storage for home library delivery services and technology, such as WIFI and a television.

“Our Library Caddy will be popping up at Council run events and at more places for storytime, workshops and deliveries.

It’s also an opportunity for our residents to understand the range of services our libraries provide, including author talks, educational workshops and social clubs.

“This is a fantastic outcome that has been achieved thanks to Council, the State Government and the State Library of NSW working together for the benefit of The Hills Shire,” he added.

The Library Caddy will be popping up at Box Hill Nelson Community Centre between May 4 and June 29 for Preschool Storytime and Baby Bounce sessions.
