Despite the wet weather it was a great turn out for the launch of the Hills Relay For Life at Event Cinemas Castle Hill on March 2nd.

Again, Event Cinemas Castle Hill sponsored the launch and the distributors of Australian movie Ruby’s Choice provided the screening for free. Guests included politicians, sponsors, volunteers and team members who have been part of the community fundraiser for the Cancer Council.

The 2022 Hills Relay For Life on May 21st will be the 21st Relay event held in the Hills Shire, making it one of the longest running Cancer Council relays in Australia.

Chair of the Hills Relay For Life Community organising committee Lisa Carruthers said it will be great to return to the 24-hour Relay format.

“From our Virtual Relay in 2020, to our very successful 20th Anniversary 5-hour event last year, it has been a very interesting and challenging time.”

She thanked the Hills Relay Community for being behind each event “every step of the way”.

Last year’s five-hour relay raised $150,234. Speaker James Butler, former Chair, who helped establish the Hills Relay For Life said the great community spirt of the event contributed to its great success over the decades.
