On Saturday evening, 11 May 2024, the Bruce Fraser Field located at Holland Road Reserve in Glenhaven was vandalized.

According to the Hills Police Area Command on Tuesday, 14 May: “The vandal allegedly cut the chain gate and proceeded to drive on the field late on Saturday night.

Police also mentioned that the field will be closed for the rest of the week. Hills Shire Council staff will be on the ground repairing it so that it can be opened early next week.

Investigations are still ongoing as the Council and Police are working closely to locate the undetermined number of person(s) involved. Police said to contact the Hills Police Area Command if they have more information or relevant CCTV footage.

The Mayor of the Hills Shire, Dr Peter Gangemi, is deeply disappointed, as the incident may prevent volunteer-run community football clubs from using the field over the coming weeks.

“The field was recently renamed after Bruce Fraser to honour the late Glenhaven Football Club inaugural president’s significant contributions to the construction of the playing field. It is devastating that the field has been damaged in this way,” the Mayor said.
