Hills Hornets Boosted By American Ace Bryant
The Hills Hornets have recruited giant American star Chris Bryant to bolster their chances in the NBL1 East Championships this season, counting on his high average of 24.7 points and 66.6 rebounds per game to add extra scoring power.
Tallahasse-born Bryant, 31, who played for the Inner West Bulls last season, said he loves the pressure and wants to be a winner with any team he plays for.
“The Hills right here is home, this is my baby,” the 203cm Bryant, said in a recent interview. “Being at the Hills, having that opportunity to have your own group, bigger roles, bigger expectations, put more on your shoulders – that’s something I have always wanted.”
His ambition this season: “My goal for the year – I want us to finish in the top four.” He has started well and has already snagged a Foot Locker Player of The Week Award. The Hornets, who scored a thrilling 89-81 victory over Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Spiders last week, are having a mixed season to lie seventh on the table.
The Hornets are away this Saturday, June 1, to Sydney Comets, who lie in 10th position. Canberra Gunners are on top of the standings just ahead of Maitland Mustangs.
