Help shape the future of Cherrybrook Station Precinct

The community is invited to share its views to help shape the Cherrybrook Station Precinct by participating in an online survey.

The Department of Planning and Environment is working together with the Department of Transport and Landcom to plan for the Cherrybrook Station Precinct, under construction as part of the NSW Government’s $8.3 billion Sydney Northwest Metro network.

Planning, in collaboration with Hornsby Shire and The Hills councils and government agencies, includes the proposed development of government-owned land around the station comprising a vibrant local centre with shops, bars and restaurants, schools, parks and community facilities.

The Department’s Deputy Secretary for Growth, Design and Programs, Brendan Nelson, encouraged residents to fill out the survey as community feedback will continue to help guide development.

“The community is playing a key role in developing the vision for the Cherrybrook Station Precinct. These surveys will provide us with further input and will add to the feedback from the consultation and workshops we have already undertaken in Cherrybrook,” Mr Nelson said.

“We understand the community wants better connections to employment centres, more community facilities and to preserve local character and public open space.”

Earlier this year, the Department commissioned a PlaceScore report inviting locals to share what they value about living in the area. This attracted more than 200 responses and helped to build a picture of what the community would like retained and what they would like improved through the planning process.

“The feedback showed residents want a vibrant local centre a variety of services and a diversity of housing choice to accommodate people at different life stages. Good connections to the station and to jobs in nearby suburbs and sustainable design were also important to the Cherrybrook community,” Mr Nelson said.

“We want to ensure a broad cross-section of the community have their say on the future of their suburb. They can do that by telling us in the survey want they want to see in their area.”
