Hawkesbury’s Helping Hands

For nearly six years, every day of the week, Hawkesbury’s Helping Hands has supported those experiencing homelessness in the Hawkesbury and surrounds. They provide love, kindness, food, toiletries, clothing, shoes, blankets, sleeping bags, tents, swags, pet supplies etc, also advice on services available and if possible, support with accommodation.

Free meals are served three days a week to their friends in a local park. To date they have distributed over 200,000 plates of food, with over 150+ packed meals to go weekly. They also distribute 21 -35 emergency family food hampers weekly, throughout the vast Hawkesbury area.

Three years ago they started collecting and distributing formal wear to ensure that no child in the Hawkesbury or surrounds cannot attend their farewell or formal, because they cannot afford to purchase an outfit.

They also supply lunches to local schools, and this year had a back to school drive where we collected and distributed over 120 backpacks to children in need in our community.

Recently they started a breakfast club three days a week in a local High School.

They work alongside and support many other charities and organisations, and work closely with numerous agencies, who often refer their clients to Hawkesburys Helping Hands.

If you want to help this wonderful and important organisation by volunteering some time, donating money (everything over $2 is tax deductible) or by cooking up a storm and bringing it along, please call Linda on 0416 956 263, or follow them on facebook to see whats happening. www.facebook.com/HawkesburysHelpingHands
