Hawkesbury Council has welcomed 11 new staff members into apprenticeships, cadetships and traineeships working across six Council departments.

The roles, lasting from six months to four years, offer young people the chance to gain work experience while earning qualifications in accounting, civil construction, civil engineering, customer experience, environmental health, parks and gardens, and planning.

Mayor Les Sheather stated it was rewarding to employ many young people as they begin their careers at the Council and beyond.

“We are one of the largest employers in the area, and more than 50% of our staff live in our local government area, so we are absolutely invested in the wellbeing of our community,” the Mayor said.

“Careers in local government are very rewarding. Council’s staff members are working here because they want to make a difference to our community, and they enjoy the benefits of working close to home in an undeniably beautiful part of Sydney.

“We look forward to working with our newest staff members to help them flourish in their careers and become part of the Hawkesbury Council family.”
