Glenhaven Carols

Get ready and get set to Carol On at Glenhaven Carols by Candlelight 2023 on Sunday, 10th December.

Now in its 23rd year, the annual Glenhaven Carols by Candlelight is a much-anticipated community fixture at Christmas.

Each year Glenhaven Oval fills with thousands of residents to celebrate the festive season. Last year was a huge event, free from the COVID restrictions on 2021.

Louise Hedges, of Friends of Glenhaven’s Carols Committee said: “We are truly grateful for what the Carols event has become and the support the community shows each year. There is excitement building yet again.

“Each year the community comes together on this great night to relax and celebrate. It is a real community event; with our local Glenhaven Rural Fire Service and The Hills SES Unit assisting on the night.

“This year, attendees are asked to provide a gold coin on entry to our emergency services volunteers at the gate.

“ Friends of Glenhaven’s Carols Committee have been meeting all year to organise the family-friendly event that also showcases local talent with Reid the Music, Jenna’s Singing School, Sister 2 Sister School of Singing, NorthWest Wind Ensemble, Castle Hill RSL Youth Wind Orchestra and the Hills District Pipe Band are all set to entertain.

As well as the great stage performances and music, Glenhaven Oval takes on a “Carnivale” atmosphere with rides and amusements.

Lousie said a new addition to this year’s Glenhaven Carols will be a special sensory tent.

“We aim to make the event as inclusive as possible and this year, the event will see its very first sensory breakout space available for those who may require it” she said.

It is hoped it will encourage people to come who may otherwise feel overwhelmed by such a gathering. The event draws up to 4,000 people to the oval and with limited parking spaces in great demand, attendees are encouraged to park in neighbouring streets off Glenhaven Rd or walk to the event if possible.

“Without the generous support of The Hills Shire Council, local businesses such as fireworks sponsor Louis Carr Real Estate, West Pennant Hills Sports Club, Kindalin and Finchley Insurance Brokers amongst many other local businesses, this event simply wouldn’t be able to proceed.” said Louise.

The event starts at 4pm on Sunday 10th December. As well as carnival rides and attractions there will be food trucks. Santa will be coming to town.

The whole event ends with a grand firework finale starting at 9pm.

Lousie said: “We look forward to seeing all the friendly faces of Glenhaven again on 10th December at Glenhaven Oval on Glenhaven Rd. Visit the Glenhaven Carols By Candlelight Facebook page for further information.

Bring a picnic rug and enjoy a festive night of community with your family and friends.
