Get Ready for this year’s Chemical CleanOut

Get ready for the 2017 Household Chemical CleanOut! This year’s CleanOut will be held on Sunday, 27 August 2017 at Hawkesbury Showground, Racecourse Road, Clarendon between 9am and 3:30pm.

The Household Chemical CleanOut is a FREE service for the safe disposal of a range of common household chemicals, many of which could cause harm to human health and the environment if disposed of in regular garbage bins or tipped into drains.

Residents can dispose of paint and paint related products, herbicides, pesticides, poisons, gas bottles, fire extinguishers, pool chemicals, hobby chemicals, acids and alkalis, solvents, household cleaners, motor oils, fuels, fluids, batteries, and fluorescent globes and tubes.
Individual container sizes up to 20L or 20kg are accepted.

When transporting chemicals always handle them carefully and please:

 Never mix chemicals;

 Wherever possible, keep all chemicals in their original containers;

 Ensure containers are clearly labelled and well-sealed;

 Wrap liquid containers securely and place in plastic buckets or trays as liquid can leak during transport; and

 Keep household chemicals away from passengers, e.g. in the boot of your car.

This event is run by the NSW Environment Protection Authority in conjunction with Hawkesbury City Council.Chemical CleanOut
