Federal Member for Berowra – Hon Julian Leeser MP

Strong Results on Economy

The government’s economic management is paying off with more jobs, more investment, more wages and more exports.

Over the past 12 months, more than 325,000 jobs were created. This represents four times the rate of jobs growth compared with Labor’s last year in office and includes over 40,000 full-time employment positions in August 2017 alone. Since the Coalition Government came to office in September 2013, over 805,000 jobs have been created.

The Australian economy expanded by 1.9 per cent during 2016-17 and for the second year in a row the Federal Government spent less than initially projected. Our underlying cash deficit has also fallen below two per cent of gross domestic product (GDP) for the first time in four years.

NBN/Tesltra

I know telecommunications continues to be an issue for many members of our community.

Following our successful community forum on Telstra and the NBN at the Dural Country Club last month, Telstra have agreed to host a community consultation event in Arcadia this month.

Follow my Facebook page, Julian Leeser MP, for further details closer to the date and come down to speak directly with members of the Telstra team.

NorthConnex

On Monday, 18 September 2017, I welcomed the Premier, the Hon Gladys Berejiklian MP to Berowra to mark the halfway point of tunnelling on the NorthConnex project. I am pleased to report the project remains on time and on budget.

NorthConnex will bring enormous benefits to our local area by taking 5,000 trucks off Pennant Hills Road every day and returning our local roads to local drivers. NorthConnex is contributing to another fantastic outcome for local residents through the Hornsby Quarry rejuvenation project which will be an incredible recreation facility for our local community.

Celebrating Service in our Community

I was delighted to join the Galston VIEW Club last month to help them celebrate 25 years of service. “VIEW” – Voice, Interest and Education of Women – is a group of passionate women whose incredible work supports education and the elderly. Thank you to President Majorie Jarrett, Secretary Vivien Fitzer and all of the members for their service and to Gary Mangen and the Galston Community Bank Branch for their unwavering support of the many wonderful organisations like this in our community
