For decades the Dural Country Club has served the Hills community and beyond as a hub for community and social gatherings as well as leisure and recreational activities such as bowls, Bocce and snooker.
Many of us who have grown up in the area have special memories of the Dural Country Club whether it be memories of a special family gathering, a social event or attending a concert.
However, in recent years, the Club has shown its age and has needed some serious love and investment to ensure that this wellloved club can meet the needs and desires of current and future generations of residents.
The beginning of change for the Club came in 2023, when the Dural Country Club amalgamated with Leagues club, bringing together a strategic partnership that would guarantee $5 million in capital expenditure over three years which would include refurbishing the club house, bowling greens and Bocce courts.
On 29th September, the Parramatta Leagues Club unveiled the re-branded Dural Club much to the excitement of the sub club members and the general community.
The Dural Club has undergone a complete transformation with an open-plan layout, a new bar and cafe, spacious function rooms, a dedicated kids’ play area, and lawn bowl facilities. The re-branded Club also has the capability to facilitate weddings as well as other milestone celebrations such as christenings, birthdays and anniversaries.
President Greg Monaghan was on hand to officially re-open the Dural Club and said the rebrand and renovating the space was driven by community demand.
“We’ve seen tremendous growth in the area and heard the community’s call for a refreshed space that reflects the vibrant, intergenerational families we serve,” he said.
“With over 8,000 members in the Hills area across the Parra Leagues Club group, Dural Club will provide these members with amenities conveniently closer to home. Our goal with this rebrand and renovation is to create a welcoming environment where every member of the family can find joy, celebration and connection.” He said.
There is a restaurant onsite, Lusso Kitchen which is part of the Lusso group who own restaurants in Lane Cove and Neutral Bay. Also on offer is Dooral Café whose name recognises the Indigenous history of the area with Dural having been derived from Dooral-Dooral, an Aboriginal name meaning smoking hollow tree.
Dural Club is also home to a number of Sub Clubs including Dural Lawn Bowls Club, Dural snooker club, Dural Indoor Bowls, Dural Fishing Club and Dural Bocce Club which is an Italian/ European version of Lawn Bowls. All these clubs have benefited from the renovations of the facilities at the Dural Club which now boasts some of the best bowls and Bocce facilities in the region.
The aim of these facilities is to connect to the local community and to create opportunities for locals to participate in leisure and recreational activities close to home whilst making friends and having a good time. If you are looking for a new community group to join, why not consider joining one of these very friendly sub clubs who welcome newcomers with open arms.
The Dural Club also runs weekly events including $5 barefoot bowls. Trivia night, meat raffles, poker, live music and the village markets every second Sunday of the month.
If you are looking for a family friendly venue for an upcoming gathering or social event or if you are looking for a new community group to join, then I encourage you to check out the transformed Dural Club. It is a great place to make those special memories.
