Mark your calendars for a colourful drawing workshop with the Newcastle-based author and illustrator Sami Bayly at the Castle Hill Library on Friday, 12 January 2024.

With two upcoming sessions, kids aged 1 to 3 can join its 1-hour morning session starting at 10:00 AM, while kids ages 4 to 6 can join the second workshop session from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

“Dive into the drawing workshop with Sami Bayly and learn how to create amazing sea creatures in the interactive activity,” the announcement by the Hills Shire Library Service indicated.

“The workshop will conclude with book sales and signing conducted by Dymocks Rouse Hill, cash and card accepted.”

Tickets cost $15.50, which can be reserved online via Eventbrite:

10:00 AM: Drawing Workshop with Sami Bayly (School Years 1-3).

11:30 AM: Drawing Workshop with Sami Bayly (School Years 4-6).

The multi-awarded author-illustrator received awards such as Winner of the Children’s Indie Book of the Year Award in the Indie Book Awards, Winner of the Environmental Award for Children’s Literature Non-fiction from the Wilderness Society, and more.

She is also the author of books illustrated in various realistic flora and fauna such as the three-part Illustrated Encyclopaedia series: The Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Ugly Animals, The Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Dangerous Animals and The Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Peculiar Pairs in Nature.

Recently, she launched her latest two books on animal evolution: Creatures of Camouflage and Mimicry and How We Came To Be – Surprising Sea Creatures.

The Castle Hill Library is located at 14 Pennant St in Castle Hill.
