Days for Girls Castle Hill NSW Australia Team was started in September 2016 and has just turned 6 yrs old.

The group makes sustainable feminine hygiene kits for disadvantaged women and girls throughout the world.

Castle Hill Team Leader Cheryl Landon-Jones said girls can now attend school without shame and humiliation, can get a better education and make better choices in life.

“We are giving back those days to the girls hence called ‘Days for Girls’. We have a dedicated Team of volunteers who sew, process and pack the kits. Many are retirees that are on their own and have benefited greatly by having a worthwhile project to contribute to.”

So far the Castle Hill Team has sent 7,794 kits to 25 different countries.

“We have just completed 600 kits for a World Vision Refugee Project for Somalia and Sudan.”

Cheryl says the cost of each kit is $15 (and increasing). Each kit consists of 8 flannelette liners, 2 cotton shields with a waterproof PUL layer inside, 2 prs undies, facewasher and soap, carry pouch and instruction card plus a colourful cotton/poly drawstring bag. Quality control is a vital part of the overall process to make sure the kit is robust enough to last 2-3 years.

Cheryl says the group relies on volunteer help, donations and fundraising to supply these kits. It is having a Xmas Market Stall Fundraiser in the Castlewood Estate in Bendtree Way, Castle Hill on Sunday 27 th November 9 am – 2 pm.
