Council Adopts $224.8M Budget for 2025/2026
Hawkesbury City Council has adopted a $224.8 million budget for the 2025/2026 financial year, marking its second-largest annual spend and reinforcing its commitment to major infrastructure renewal, flood recovery, and community services.
Endorsed at Council’s June meeting, the budget forms part of the newly approved Operational Plan 2025/2026, which outlines 114 key actions and a capital works program aimed at delivering on community priorities outlined in the Community Strategic Plan.
“This budget reflects our continued focus on rebuilding and strengthening Hawkesbury’s future,” said a Council spokesperson. “It includes critical projects to improve our roads, parks, community facilities and public services.”
Key allocations include:
- $89.4 million for local roads and drainage
- $43.3 million for community and cultural initiatives including events, libraries, and local museums
- $41.1 million for waste management, landfill and sewerage services
- $36 million for improvements to public spaces, parks and recreational facilities
A significant portion of the funding is supported by State and Federal Government flood recovery grants and the Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants (WSIG) program. Several of these are multi-year projects designed to boost the liveability and resilience of the region.
Among the major infrastructure and community projects funded in 2025/2026 are:
- Fernadell Park redevelopment: $8.5 million
- St Albans Road upgrade: $6.8 million
- North Richmond Community Precinct Upgrade: $5.7 million
- Thomas James Bridge upgrade: $5.25 million
- Cornwallis Road improvements: $5 million
- Kurmond–Kurrajong Cycleway: $4.1 million
- Woodbury Reserve upgrade: $4 million
- Rickaby’s Creek cycleway bridge: $3.6 million
- Tamplin Field redevelopment: $3.1 million
- Turnbull Oval redevelopment: $2.8 million
- Richmond Pool upgrade: $3.2 million
- Wayfinding and signage program: $2.3 million
- Hawkesbury Oasis improvements: $700,000
Council is also committed to community input throughout the design and delivery of these projects, and encourages residents to have their say on current and upcoming works.
