Alive in The Community

By Leonie Dixon

We all know just how busy it gets at Christmas time and it’s like the station has been on steroids with a lot of the volunteers almost making Alive their whole life, especially our Chairman, Andsley Dennis who not only organises many of the events but attends them and puts in an enormous amount of effort to ensure their success.

Outside Broadcasts (OBs) really help connect with our listeners and the latest OB was at Parramission where 1,000 meals were served to people experiencing homelessness, isolation and mental health issues. Our team broadcast numerous interviews with the dignitaries and danced and sang along with the crowd. Many commented it was the highlight of the year.

The week before it was off to broadcast at the Glenhaven Carols night where lots of the carollers received free hand-outs from the station and really got to know many of the presenters. A fun night!

Finally, the last fund raiser for the year was a Bunnings sausage sizzle where the whole team were dressed in the new Alive Christmas shirt and Santa made his appearance for the kids. It was another social occasion members really enjoyed which is available to everyone who becomes a member by visiting alive90.com.au
