Christmas In The Hills

By Bev Jordan
A spectacular festive Christmas show is promised on a screen near you as Christmas in the Hills goes on with a feast of entertainment and Christmas Carols on Wednesday, December 15th.

Last year’s vibrant show reached an estimated 15,000 people online and was viewed at homes, community halls and churches.

The Community organising committee said the 2020 show was a “dress rehearsal” for this year’s spectacular which starts with some family-friendly pre-show entertainment at 6.30pm before moving into the Carols by Candlelight program and of course a visit by Santa. The broadcast will end at 9pm with fireworks.

“ Enjoy the show in your home with friends and family, sing along as loud as you can and we can all share the Christmas spirit,” said committee member Alison Stevenson. “We look forward to sharing with you in person again next year for Christmas 2022.”

It has been difficult for charities to raise funds during the COVID restrictions and donations raised by Christmas in the Hills will help The Fit Kidz Foundation at Dural, a notfor- profit Early Intervention Service supporting children with Autism or other Developmental Disabilities and also The Sanctuary _ The Hills Women’s Shelter.

Music Director Fiona Fitzgerald will be leading the specially formed Christmas in the Hills ensemble and community choir. ABC24 newsreader and former William Clarke College student Johanna Nicholson will again MC Christmas in the HIlls and will be joined by Santa.

Churches involved in the service are St Paul’s Anglican Church Castle Hill and Wesley Uniting Church Castle Hill.

Chairman of the organising committee Rev John Gray thanked the sponsors who have covered production costs and studio time to enable a professional production to be beamed in on December 15th.

“This year we anticipate raising some thousands of dollars for our charities and bring a little joy and a message of hope and comfort to people emerging from lockdowns. “

The event will be accessible via the Christmas in The Hills website www.christmasinthehills.com.au and via the special Facebook Event; www.facebook.com/ events/315149510047357
