Castle Hill RSL Group Celebrates Sports and Community Excellence
Castle Hill RSL Group (CHRG) recently hosted its annual Sports and Community Awards night, a much-anticipated event celebrating the outstanding achievements and contributions of its 21 vibrant sub-clubs.
The night brought together players, volunteers, and supporters to honour teamwork, dedication, and community spirit.
This year’s awards highlighted the incredible talent and commitment within the CHRG network, encompassing a wide range of sports and community activities. From junior athletes excelling in local and state competitions, to the volunteers working tirelessly behind the scenes, the awards recognised the many individuals who make CHRG’s sub-clubs a vital part of the Hills.
Among the honourees was Robert Attard, Hills Football Association’s 2024 Sports Person of the Year. Robert, a passionate Premier League player for Castle Hill RSL Rockets FC, was celebrated for his exceptional footwork, dribbling skills, and outstanding leadership both on and off the field. His dedication to the game and his team has made him a standout in the local football community.
The Volunteer of the Year Award went to Susan Hsiao, described as the heart of Castle Hill RSL Dolphins. Susan wears many hats as Secretary, Welfare Officer, photographer, and more, dedicating countless hours to the club’s success. Her selfless work ensures that the Dolphins not only function smoothly but thrive as a community. Her contributions are a shining example of the spirit of volunteerism that drives CHRG’s sub-clubs.
The evening was hosted by Brett Andrews, CHRG’s Head of Sport and Wellness. Brett spoke passionately about the role of sport and community in bringing people together. “Our clubs are about more than competition – they’re about connection, growth, and building a strong community,” Brett said, setting the tone for the night’s celebrations.
CHRG President John Payne also addressed the crowd, sharing his gratitude for the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in the sub-clubs. “Tonight, we celebrate not just individual excellence but the incredible spirit of our community. It’s this unity and commitment that make our sub-clubs so special,” he said.
The night was filled with inspiring stories of achievement and dedication, from athletes like Robert breaking records and excelling in their sport to volunteers like Susan who tirelessly give back to the community. These stories reflect the power of sport and community to foster resilience, camaraderie, and belonging.
With 21 sub-clubs and their members contributing to CHRG’s community, the Awards Night was a testament to the collective effort and passion that drives its success.
