Castle Hill & District Probus Club Trip to Mudgee

The Castle Hill & District Probus Club first commenced 9 years ago and has grown from strength to strength ever since, now boasting almost 200 fun-loving local retiree members.

We meet on the first Tuesday of each month at the Cherrybrook Community Centre from 10-12 with interesting speakers at each meeting.

We have over 17 interest groups including lunch, cards, book club, choir, craft, walking to name a few. We hold day bus trips and events like Melbourne Cup luncheon, tours of research facilities, gallery outings and theatre excursions – very regularly.

We also run local, interstate and overseas tours for members. Our detailed website and, in particular our newsletters, give more details, and you can check us out by Googling the name of our club.

Just recently 32 members did a two night ‘public transport’ trip to the beautiful town of Mudgee. This was the second trip with the first one run the same time last year. We travelled by XPT from Parramatta to Lithgow and then the connecting coach to Mudgee where we were dropped at the door of our motel.

A pre-arranged tour bus took us to a sumptuous degustation dinner that night at the Pumphouse Restaurant in Robert Stein’s Winery. The next day we had a full day touring local attractions including historic Gulgong and Cooyal ‘Pub in the Scrub’ and, of course, wineries. The return trip on the bus and train provided beautiful scenery, great companionship and delivered us home safely.

During the lockdowns our usually long waiting list for membership understandably wasn’t added to, so if you are interested in coming along for a ‘look see’ at one of our meetings now would be a good time. Or if you would just like to speak to someone about joining us, please contact our Membership Officer Don on [email protected]
