The sports field at Holland Road Reserve in Glenhaven has officially been named Bruce Fraser Field after support from the community for the name change following a proposition made to Hills Shire Council in 2023.
Bruce Fraser was one of the founding members of Glenhaven FC and identified Holland Road Reserve as having a space big enough for a football field, working with a committe and community members to propose development of the grounds and turn it into the home ground of the soccer club. He was the inaugural President of the club, and an active member until his passing in July 2022.
Now, Bruce has been honoured in the renaming of the field at the Reserve, which Bruce’s wife Donna said is a huge honour, 32 years after he pioneered its usage as a sports field.
A certificate of recognition of the field was given to the Fraser family by Hills Shire Mayor Peter Gangemi and Deputy Mayor Mitchell Blue in a ceremony attended by a number of Glenhaven FC members to celebrate the legacy of Bruce.
