Adult, teens charged over alleged theft of luxury vehicles from Dural
Detectives attached to Strike Force Sweetenham have charged one adult and two teens following inquiries into the alleged theft of two luxury vehicles from Sydney’s northwest, the NSW Police reported on Tuesday, 23 April 2024.
Strike Force Sweetenham is a metropolitan region investigation into the theft of high-performance and luxury vehicles.
Between 3 AM and 3:45 AM on Tuesday, 16 April 2024, a BMW sedan and a white convertible Ferrari were allegedly stolen from a property on Old Northern Road, Dural.
Following inquiries, officers found the vehicles parked outside the premises on Perigee Close, Doonside, at about 11 AM on Tuesday, 16 April 2024.
At about 2 AM on Friday, 19 April 2024, a Mazda CX-9 was allegedly stolen from Constitution Hill.
According to the Police, the vehicle was sighted on Richmond Road, Prospect, and briefly pursued by officers attached to Highway Patrol before being terminated on the Great Western Highway.
At about 2:30 AM, the vehicle was sighted abandoned on Doig Street, Northmead.
A short time later, with the assistance of PolAir (Aviation Command) and the Dog Unit, three people were located in bushland near Hood Street, Northmead.
An 18-year-old man and two boys, aged 15 and 17, were arrested and taken to Merrylands Police Station.
The younger boy has been charged with 15 counts of break and enter offences, 14 counts of stolen vehicle offences, as well as being the first person charged under Section 154K – performance crime offence (Post and Boast), and breach of bail.
He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Children’s Court on Saturday 20 April 2024, where he was formally refused bail to re-appear before a children’s court today (Tuesday 23 April 2024).
The older boy was charged with aggravated break enter and steal, and be carried in conveyance without consent.
He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Children’s Court on Friday 19 April 2024, where he was formally refused bail to appear in a children’s court on this Friday (26 April 2024).
The 18-year-old man has been charged with aggravated break enter and steal, and be carried in conveyance without consent.
He was given conditional bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday, 29 May 2024.
At about 9:40 PM on Friday, 19 April 2024, the same man was arrested and charged with a further 12 counts of aggravated break and enter offences, 10 counts of stolen vehicle offences, and charged under Section 154K – Performance crime offence (Post and Boast).
He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Saturday 20 April 2024, where he was formally refused bail to appear at the same court tomorrow (Wednesday 24 April 2024).
