Building a Better Community for the North West

Budgets aren’t just numbers on a page – they’re statements of priorities. In this year’s New South Wales Budget, the Minns Labor Government has made it clear that the needs of our booming community are finally being listened to.

After 12 years of neglect by the former Liberal Government, this budget continues to deliver the funding needed to turn long-held ideas into reality.

That means roads, schools, public transport and health care – things people in our community have been waiting far too long for. Seven major road upgrades, three new primary schools, a new high school, more buses and upgrades to existing infrastructure will make a real difference in people’s lives.

Expectant mothers in Sydney’s north-west will be able to birth their babies closer to home, following $90 million in additional funding from the Minns Labor Government for the new Rouse Hill Hospital.

The budget also reflects a more modern approach to growth. In areas like Tallawong, developers are already required to install kerbs, gutters and half-roads. Now, with new incentives, they can build parks and community centres too, at lower cost and much faster than if we waited for councils to do it years later.

The Government is also taking action to ease the housing crisis, with $1 billion in pre-sale finance guarantees to get mid-sized housing developments off the ground sooner. Add to that more funding for TAFE to train 23,000 new construction workers and targeted planning reform, and it’s clear the Government isn’t just planning for growth – it’s building for it.

This budget proves you don’t have to choose between economic responsibility and real outcomes for the community. In Riverstone, that means ideas are finally being funded, and the future is taking shape.
