Windsor Town Centre transformation has officially been completed, marking a key milestone in Hawkesbury’s broader town centre revitalisation efforts.

After several years of planning and 12 months of construction, the final stage of the Windsor Liveability Project, focused on Windsor Mall, was completed on 30 June this year.

Funded through the Western Sydney City Deal, the project aimed to create a more vibrant, accessible, and welcoming space for residents, visitors, and businesses, while also celebrating Windsor’s historic character.

The upgrades include feature paving, upgraded pedestrian pathways, new street furniture, landscaped garden beds, and improved safety and accessibility features.

A notable part of the project is the installation of engraved name pavers, purchased by 500 community members in 2021. A map showing the location of these pavers is available online via Council’s Your Hawkesbury Your Say website.

To celebrate its completion, Hawkesbury City Council will host an official opening event on Sunday, 10 August, from 9am in Windsor Town Centre, with further event details to be announced shortly.

The Windsor Liveability Project forms part of the Western Parkland City Liveability Program, one of the commitments under the Western Sydney City Deal. In 2018, the program allocated $18.75 million for upgrades across Richmond, South Windsor, and Windsor.

Additional funding of $1.24 million was also secured through the NSW Government’s Greening Our Cities grant to support tree planting and the creation of green boulevards, improving urban amenity and helping to reduce heat impacts.

The Western Sydney City Deal is a three-tier government partnership involving federal, state, and local representatives, including Susan Templeman MP, Federal Member for Macquarie and Special Envoy for the Arts, the Hon Paul Scully MP, NSW Minister for Planning and Public Spaces, and the eight mayors of the Western Parkland City.
