Have Your Say on Sustainable Events Management Policy
Hawkesbury City Council is seeking community feedback on its Draft Sustainable Events Management Policy, which aims to strengthen sustainability practices for events held across the region.
Now on public exhibition until Friday, 1 August 2025, the updated policy outlines a framework for Council-run and Council-sponsored local events to implement environmentally and socially responsible practices.
Originally adopted in 2011, the revised policy incorporates updated sustainability actions across several key areas, including waste reduction, energy and water use, environmental impact, wildlife protection, accessibility, and inclusion.
Once adopted, the policy will apply to both Council-run events and those organised by local events organisers that receive Council sponsorship. It sets out a clear framework to help event organisers incorporate sustainable practices from planning through to delivery.
To support implementation, Council will also provide event organisers with Sustainable Events Guidelines and a Sustainability Self-Assessment during the sponsorship process.
Community members can view the Draft Policy and supporting materials on Council’s online engagement platform at yourhawkesbury-yoursay.com.au, or in person at Council’s Administration Office, 366 George Street, Windsor, between 9am and 4pm, Monday to Friday.
