Lights, Civics, Action! Entries Open for Parli-Flicks 2025
Castle Hill school students are invited to roll camera and shine a spotlight on democracy, with entries now open for the 2025 Parli-Flicks Short Film Award.
This annual competition is hosted by Parliament of NSW, and it challenges students from Years 5 to 12 to create a one-minute film exploring Australia’s Westminster system of democracy and the role of parliament in our society.
The 2025 theme is: ‘What do I value about democracy?’
There is a lot to value in representative government—from fair elections to having a voice when important decisions are made.
I encourage students in Castle Hill to enter! I cannot wait to see your talents and imagination on full display as you reflect on what democracy means to you and your role as a young citizen.
Films will be judged across five categories: Best Regional, Best Metropolitan, Best Primary (Years 5 & 6), Best Junior Secondary (Years 7 – 9) and Best Senior Secondary (Years 10 – 12).
The overall winner will receive $500 and a Parli-Flicks 2025 trophy, with $100 awarded to each shortlisted entry.
Entries close 8 August 2025.
