NEW MAYOR AND DEPUTY MAYOR ELECTED FOR HAWKESBURY

The election of the Mayor of Hawkesbury for the 2016 to 2018 Mayoral Term and Deputy Mayor took place at Council’s Extraordinary Meeting last Tuesday, 27 September 2016.

The new Mayor of Hawkesbury is Councillor Mary Lyons-Buckett and the new Deputy Mayor is Councillor Barry Calvert.

Recent changes to legislation provides for the Mayor to hold the position for a two year term and Council resolved that the Deputy Mayor also hold the position for the same period.

Councillor Mary Lyons-Buckett is looking forward to fulfilling her appointed role over the next two years.

Councillor Lyons-Buckett is keen to work collaboratively with her fellow Councillors, community members and Council staff to ensure that Council is working together with the community to build a successful future for the Hawkesbury.

“As the Mayor of the Hawkesbury, I’m looking forward to creating and planning opportunities to secure and develop a strong and viable future for the Hawkesbury,” Councillor Lyons-Buckett said.

“I would also like to welcome the seven newly elected Councillors Emma-Jane Garrow, Amanda Kotlash, Peter Reynolds, Sarah Richards, John Ross, Danielle Wheeler and Nathan Zamprogno,” she said.

“Congratulations also to the other four re-elected Councillors Barry Calvert – who is also the new Deputy Mayor, Patrick Conolly, Paul Rasmussen and Tiffany Tree.”
