Locals for Locals Awards now open

Nominations are now open for The Hills Shire Council’s annual Locals for Locals Awards.

The awards recognise individuals, community groups and organisations for their contributions to education, arts and culture, sports and recreation, environment and sustainability, community service and local business.

“Locals for Locals is an opportunity for The Hills Shire Council and the community to recognise the outstanding contribution of hard working Hills locals and their commitment to making The Shire a safer, more inclusive and more vibrant place to live, work and play,” Mayor Byrne said.

“You may know of an unsung hero who gives generously of their time and expertise to help others, or a friend or neighbour who never hesitates to give support to those around them.

“Help us to recognise and award these people and groups who make you proud to be a resident of The Hills Shire,” Mayor Byrne added.

Nominations for the awards close on Tuesday 31 July, with award winners to be announced at a special presentation on Thursday 30 August.

The Locals for Locals Awards ceremony is the launch of Council’s annual Orange Blossom Festival and the start of a month full of events.

Hills locals are encouraged to take the time to nominate their peers in this year’s Awards and help them receive the recognition they deserve.
