NSW SES said in its latest damage assessments on Monday, 8 April, that crews are currently assessing the damage in Sackville, Ebenezer, Pitt Town, and Colo, while assessments have been undertaken in the Northern Beaches, Illawarra, and Hawkesbury Nepean area.

In the agency’s previous assessment on Sunday afternoon, 7 April, the SES crews said that 57 properties had been damaged while 28 were inundated by flood water in the Illawarra area.

Dallas Burnes, the NSW SES State Duty Commander and acting Assistant Commissioner Dallas Burnes, mentioned they are now focusing on resupplying isolated communities and finalizing damage assessments.

“As we transition to recovery after the weekend’s heavy rainfall and storm activity, our volunteers are out in the community undertaking damage assessments and supporting community members with clean-up activities,” acting Assistant Commissioner Burnes said.

“Drive slowly, plan your route carefully to avoid any flooded roads and allow extra travel time. Damage to roads and buildings caused by flooding may still exist in your area.”

“Be aware of road hazards including mud and debris and take care as local roads could still have water over them. Check in on your neighbours, animals and livestock if safe to do so.”

According to the NSW SES, more than 5000 SES volunteers have been deployed across NSW to help the communities.
