The Hills Shire Council is praised as the ‘Garden Shire’, but this goes beyond the beautiful parks and manicured gardens. The boundless bushlands and reserves with their thriving ecosystems bring lots of wildlife to the area. Here’s a roundup of the best hikes and camping spots across the Hills:

You should be able to spot Water Dragons at Bidjiwong Rock and an assortment of beautiful wildflowers in Spring. This track does have a steep incline but only took about 30 minutes to complete. It also connects with the nearby 4.7km Burraga Track loop and the 8km (one-way) Murri-yanna Track.

Mills Creek Campground DHARUG NATIONAL PARK One of the only campgrounds in the Hills, Mills Creek campground is 6 km east from Wisemans Ferry crossing along the beautiful Hawkesbury River. Camping in the Dharug National Park, you’ll wake up to sweeping sandstone cliffs and the songs of lyre-birds.
