WASTE 2 ART COMPETITION 2017 – REGISTRATIONS NOW OPEN!

Registrations are now open for primary school students to enter the Waste 2 Art Competition. Registrations close on Wednesday, 28 June 2017 at 11:59pm. However, artworks do not need to be submitted until Tuesday, 25 July 2017.

Now in its fourth year, Hawkesbury City Council’s Waste 2 Art Competition focuses on the REUSE part of the 3Rs of the waste hierarchy (reuse, reduce, recycle) to specifically show how students can give waste a new purpose by transforming it into a creative piece of artwork. Through Waste 2 Art, Council hopes to encourage students to reduce, reuse and recycle waste.

Students are invited to create either 2D or 3D artworks, which must be individual and unique, and made entirely of used or recycled materials. The creative works will be exhibited throughout Local Government Week, Monday, 31 July – Sunday, 6 August 2017 at the Deerubbin Centre, Windsor with a ceremony to announce the winners to be held on Monday, 31 July 2017 at 6pm.

Students will be judged as per Stages 1, 2 and 3, with four prizes to be awarded per stage:

• 1st prize – $200 gift voucher for art supplies
• 2nd Prize – $100 gift voucher for art supplies
• 3rd Prize – $50 gift voucher for art supplies
• Highly Commended – art hamper.

An online registration form with all the guidelines for artwork and conditions of entry is available at https://www.hawkesbury.nsw. gov.au/media/forms/waste-2-artcompetition.

All registrations must be completed online by the student’s parent or guardian. Registrations close on Wednesday 28 June, 2017 at 11:59 pm. Registrations cannot be accepted after this date and every entry must be registered.
