SEE, TASTE AND LOVE THE HAWKESBURY

The newly renovated Hawkesbury Visitor Information Centre at Hawkesbury Valley Way, Richmond is open for business. The centre underwent a $89,0 00 upgrade funded by Hawkesbury City Council to support of local tourism.

The HawkesburyMayor Barry Calvert said “We have local goods for sale at the Visitor Information Centre shop and they are just a sample to promote the many wonderful products available in the Hawkesbury. “With the inaugural Aussie Artisan Week coming up on August 17 it’s a great time to remember to support our local businesses and markets and buy fresh local produce and support locally-made products, many of which are on sale here at the Visitor Information Centre.”

Hawkesbury City Council and Destination NSW have also been working in partnership to launch a new marketing campaign to showcase the Hawkesbury region as an enticing travel destination, under the statewide, inspirational Love NSW marketing campaign, which will build on the River’s Just the Beginning Campaign.

“The campaign showcases some of the Hawkesbury’s most-loved locations. By taking a short-break or extended holiday in the Hawkesbury, travellers from far and wide will discover something new in our region,” Mayor Calvert said.

“I hope this is a chance for our tourism operators to also feel the love, at a time when they need it most.”

All Hawkesbury tourism businesses can join in the Love the Hawkesbury campaign. Get Connected is the Destination NSW website program. Membership is free to all tourism operators in NSW. Mr Calvert said locally around 22 tourism businesses are on the Business Bounce Back Mentoring Program that Hawkesbury City Council launched in April.

“We’re receiving great feedback about it,” he said. “2020 will be a year of continuing to build our community connections, as well as supporting our local businesses and tourism operators who have been so affected by bushfires, flood, drought and COVID-19.”

He is encouraging people to drop into the Hawkesbury Visitor Information Centre and find out about all the great local tourism businesses that can be visited and sell great local products.

The Hawkesbury Visitor Information Centre is now open under COVID-Safe guidelines Monday to Sunday from 9am to 4pm. www.discoverthehawkesbury.com.au. Phone: 4560 4620 or email [email protected]. It is at 1/328 Hawkesbury Valley Way, Richmond – at Ham Common, opposite RAAF Base Richmond.
