Ready Cut Homes in the Hawkesbury

‘We erect the buildings ANYWHERE’ boasted the 1915 edition of the cottage homes catalogue of George Hudson & Son Ltd.

Later to become known as the Hudson ‘Ready-Cut’, some examples of this unique building technique still survive scattered through the hills of Kurrajong and in other locations in the Hawkesbury. Come along and hear local historian, Cathy McHardy at the next Hawkesbury Family History Group meeting on Wednesday, 12 July.

Cathy’s talk will focus on the history and development of the Hudson company which manufactured timber ‘kit homes’ from about 1905 until the mid-1960s.

Anyone interested is encouraged to attend this free event. The meeting starts at 10am and bookings are not required. Refreshments are available after the meeting. The Library is located at 300 George Street, Windsor.
