With Easter fasting approaching, my daughters and I have been hopping between shopping centres looking for Easter-themed activities. Your local shopping centre provides plenty to do with free or low-cost activities for all the family!
The augmented reality Easter Egg hunt at Castle Towers is quite an experience! Pokemon GO tragics, who a few years ago scoured local parks, streets and anything in-between to build their Pokemon empire will hit fever-pitch once again with this activity!
Using a QR code, we followed the clues across the Towers to locate all five hidden Easter Eggs. Once each egg was found, we scanned the floor decal and watched with excitement the egg come to life! Maddison and Alexis were left spellbound as they witnessed a golden egg appearing to pop up out of the floor surrounded by tulips, or carrots or rabbits. Our favourites were the bunny rabbits virtually popping up and down out of their burrows!
Once you have located all five hidden eggs, you can collect your free chocolate bunny from the information stand as well as enter into a draw to win a $500 Castle Towers gift card. We enjoyed the virtual reality Easter hunt so much that we have now done it twice!
The Towers is also running children’s activities from April 11-14, including brunch with the Easter Bunny, Easter Bunny craft sessions and cupcake decorating workshops. Both mum and girls are very much looking forward to meeting the Easter Bunny!
Winston Hills Mall and The Grove at Baulkham Hills are also hosting free traditional Easter Egg hunts, which has participants using a paper map to visit various retailers to collect Easter treats. At Winston Hills Mall, all kids also receive an Easter surprise at the conclusion of the hunt.
Bookings aren’t required and you can choose a time that suits you between 11am to 4pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and between 11am to 7pm on Thursdays. The Easter Bunny and his friends join participants at The Grove on their Easter egg hunt, and for this reason bookings are required.
On April 12 and 13 kids can also book into a free session to make their own Easter basket in time for an Easter Egg hunt. At Winston Hills Mall you can also get a family photo with the Easter bunny until April 16 (with the exception of good Friday), the cost of a photo is $15 including Easter treat and gift for each child.
There is also one session left on Sunday, April 10 for breakfast with the Easter Bunny which includes breakfast, entertainment craft and an easter gift from the Easter Bunny himself, costing $15 per child. Easter Saturday sees Rouse Hill Town Centre host a traditional Easter Egg hunt followed by garden games such as sack races and an egg & spoon race along with a meet and greet with the Easter bunny. Bookings are essentially and tickets are $5.
