NEW COVID-19 TESTING CLINICS

A new pop-up COVID-19 testing clinic was set up in Castle Hill Showground on Tuesday following a cluster of positive COVID-19 tests in the area. It will be open from 9am to 4pm.

NSW recorded 12 new cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm on Wednesday, August 12. There were 24,621 tests reported in the 24-hour reporting period, of the 12 new cases, four were locally acquired and linked to known cases, three were locally acquired, without a known source and five are returned travellers from overseas.

In the previous 24 hour period there were 18 new COVID-19 cases including eight linked to the Tangara School in Cherrybrook.

By Wednesday there were 19 confirmed cases in the Tangara cluster. By the time of printing it was not known how many of the new cases were linked to the Tangara cluster.

The senior school will be closed until Monday, August 24. NSW Health is still investigating the source on the infection. Castle Towers Food Court on Level 1 has also undergone deep cleansing and other areas will undergo increased cleaning after a shopper later tested positive for COVID 19.

They visited the shopping centre on Friday, August 7 between 3.30pm and 5.30pm. Alerts were also given after a parishioner at St Agatha’s Catholic Church at Pennant Hills tested positive (Monday August 3 between 7pm and 8pm) and a person at the PharmaSave Cherrybrook Pharmacy tested positive (Tuesday, August 6 between 4pm and 7pm)

A pop up clinic also been opened at Pennant Hills Community Centre, 5 Fisher Ave, Pennant Hills on Wednesday (August 12) for seven days 8am to 6pm. All testing is free and no referral is needed.

NSW Health is urging anyone feeing unwell, even with the mildest of symptoms to self-isolate from others and come forward for COVID-19 testing. While not making mask wearing mandatory both premier Gladys Berejiklian and Health Minister Brad Hazzard are urging people to wear masks while in public places such as shopping centres.
