‘GO GIANTS’ – Mayor Keane congratulates GWS on finals start

Mayor of the Hills Shire, Clr Yvonne Keane, has met with Giants officials at GWS headquarters to congratulate the team on their inaugural finals start.

GWS Giants finished in fourth place on the AFL ladder and will face off against the Sydney Swans in an all-Sydney finals game on Saturday, September 10.

“A GIANT congratulations to Greater Western Sydney for their excellent results this year,” Mayor Keane said.

“The Hills Shire is so proud of GWS Giants players, coaches and managers for playing their way into the finals. For such a young team to be competing at such a stellar level, against veterans, is just extraordinary,” she said.

Mayor Keane said it was no surprise to her to learn that a large percentage of the GWS fan base lives in the Sydney Hills.

“AFL is a wonderful, family-friendly game, and we are predominantly a family Shire. I love that Hills residents are always so well represented in the crowd on Giants game days,” Mayor Keane said.

“I wish the Giants the very best in their first finals campaign and I will be wearing my GWS jersey with pride on Jersey Day,” she said.

“I encourage everyone to grab their tickets and bring the whole family to the game to cheer on our local champion team. Go Giants!”
