Get involved in Local Government Week 2017

Local Government Week will be celebrated in the Hawkesbury from 31 July – 6 August 2017.

Hawkesbury City Council is encouraging local residents to get involved in this great community initiative with lots of free activities for everyone.

The annual Hawkesbury Companion Animal Shelter Open Day and FREE plant giveaway will be held as a launch event ahead of Local Government Week at the Animal Shelter and Community Nursery, both located at 10 Mulgrave Rd, Mulgrave. Get your free plant (Hawkesbury residents only) and bring your furry friend along for lots of fun, food, and stalls on Saturday, 29 July, 9:30am – noon.

Also during Local Government Week, Council would like your help to make some important decisions about the future of the Hawkesbury. Council is consulting with the community about funding options to help us to meet your expectations for asset service levels in the future. This includes roads, community buildings, parks, and town centres. We need to know if you wish your City’s assets to improve, stabilise or deteriorate, and to consider three options including a proposed Special Rate Variation (SRV).

There will be town meetings during Local Government Week in Pitt Town on Monday, 31 July, in Maraylya on Wednesday, 2 August and in Kurrajong on Thursday, 3 August. RSVP is essential – call (02) 4560 4444.
