A milestone of rescuing more than – 3,000 Children

Celebrating its milestone of rescuing more than 3,000 children, since Destiny Rescue’s inception in 2001, over 60 guests attended the fundraising dinner at popular restaurant MezeMe.

Local business and community representatives supported the event by partaking in this milestone celebration via purchasing tickets and sponsoring prizes for the raffle and auction. The night was deemed a great success with $14,000 being raised to help fund further rescues and the restoration and reintegration of trafficked and sexually exploited children. Speaking in front of an attentive and interested audience, Destiny Rescue representatives Angela Arena and Tim Howard held presentations and answered many questions around the subject of human trafficking and modern slavery of children in particular. Guests learned of the holistic work of the non-profit and internationally recognised organisation, which has been active in predominantly S.E. Asian countries for 17 years.

Despite its dark subject matter, a fun evening was enjoyed by all with amazing food, good wines, entertainment and lots of laughter. A highlight during the evening was two large pink heart-shaped balloons, each representing the rescue of a child. The balloons sold at $1500 each (the cost of a rescue is $1500) and were purchased by two very generous patrons, Marina Grima and Ron & Heather Gattone. Guests bid on many other generously donated items, including Charles Blackman and David Boyd artworks a milestone of rescuing more than and a 1kg pot of honey, which raised an astonishing $300. Destiny Rescue would like to acknowledge and thank all the businesses, local media and individuals without whom this evening would not have been possible, in particular, MezeMe who provided a great venue, covered a large part of the cost for food & beverages and whose team worked tirelessly and always with a smile, to make this night the success it was. All of you are facilitating important, positive changes in the lives of abused children. Thank you.
