Curator’s Talk: The New Quilt 2024
Visit the Hawkesbury Regional Gallery and participate in an upcoming Curator’s Talk on Wednesday, 8 May 2024, about its new quilting exhibition ‘The New Quilt 2024’.

According to the QuiltNSW: “The New Quilt is a juried survey exhibition showcasing the art of quilting. The exhibition features 36 quilts by contemporary textile artists from across Australia, highlighting the rich diversity of stitched and layered materials.”
“This includes two invitational works by juror-judges Ruth de Vos and Fiona Gavens,” QuiltNSW mentioned. 
The exhibition’s official opening and awards ceremony for The New Quilt Prize were held on Friday, 3 May. It was attended by Councillor Les Sheather, members of the Hawkesbury City Council, and Quilt NSW President Kaye Jamieson, who presented The Prize.
The Curator’s Talk is free of charge and can be booked online via Eventbrite: Curators Talk – New Quilt. The Talk will run from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
QuiltNSW shared on Saturday, 4 May, that the winner of The New Quilt Prize of $1500 is Sue Dennis for her work ‘Tempest’ while Anna Brown won as the runner-up, taking home $500 for her ‘Canopy 27’ entry. 
The New Quilt will stay at the Gallery until Sunday, 23 June 2024. It succeeded the Archibald Prize 2023 regional tour, one of Australia’s coveted portraiture prizes.
The Hawkesbury Regional Gallery is located on the first floor of the Deerubbin Centre, 300 George Street, Windsor.
