What’s happening in the Hawkesbury on Australia Day!

Find out what is happening in the Hawkesbury by visiting Council’s website and checking out the Australia Day Events Calendar.

The calendar features events hosted by community groups to celebrate Australia Day as well as Council’s civic events.

Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Kim Ford said, “Australia Day is such a great day and there is always lots going on around the Hawkesbury. I encourage all residents to attend one or all of these events if they can fit them in.”

Australia Day Breakfast by Hawkesbury Bells Line Lions Club

Australia Day Breakfast hosted by Hawkesbury Bells Line Lions Club. Enjoy a BBQ breakfast, games, races, book stall and guessing competition. It will be great family fun for all!!

Hawkesbury Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony
Windsor Function Centre, Dight Street, Windsor

The Hawkesbury will welcome new citizens from a variety of countries to Australia at a very special Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony. Hawkesbury’s 2016 Australia Day Ambassador, Bruce Elder and the Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Kim Ford will attend the ceremony.

9am to 5pm

There will be all day entertainment with food stalls, horse and cart rides plus hay rides. See the penny farthings, steam engines, vintage cars and motorbikes and the penny arcade. Bring a picnic or eat in one of the two cafes. Cost: $5 adults, $3 children and $15 for 2 adults and 2 children.

10am to 4pm
Interesting Objects @ Hawkesbury Regional Museum
8 Baker Street, Windsor

This exhibition pays tribute to Hawkesbury Historical Society, which has been collecting objects significant to the history of the Hawkesbury since 1956. Items include the original Title Deed to the farm of ex-convict settler, Samuel Jackson, John Tebbutt’s celestial globe, an exquisite lace collar and 1920s black beaded dress, a miner’s couch and a model gaff-rigged cutter. Official opening of exhibition is at 2pm.

Hawkesbury Australia Day Awards

At the Awards the Hawkesbury Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen of the Year will be announced. A host of other awards will also be presented by this year’s Australia Day Ambassador, Bruce Elder.

1:30pm till late
Sydney Blues and Roots at the Fitzroy Hotel for Australia Day
Fitzroy Hotel Windsor, 161 George Street, Windsor
The Sydney Blues and Roots team and The Twelve Bar have put together four acts at the Fitzroy Hotel, Windsor for Australia Day. Starting at 1:30pm, local bands and artist Working Poor, Isla Vandapol and Lizard will perform. Andy Just and The Third Degree will close the celebrations, hitting the stage at 6pm. All Free.
