Red Shield Business Appeal Launch

by Bev Jordan

Lt Col Miriam Gluyas, The Salvation Army’s NSW/ACT Divisional Commander said it perfectly when she addressed Western Sydney business leaders at a Red Shield event last week: “We can live without a lot of things but we can’t live without hope.”

The launch at Parramatta Parkroyal was the start of the Western Sydney Business Red Shield Appeal which featured Justin Herald and MC Ron Wilson.

Both men spoke about how the Salvation Army was there in times of crisis.

Hills business woman Stephanie Dale, Chair of the organising committee, said: “We are here today because we care. Social responsibility is what we care about.”

Guests included David Elliott, Minister for Counter Terrorism, Corrections, and Veterans Affairs, representing the Premier as well as Parramatta Lord Mayor Andrew Wilson and Hills Shire Mayor Michelle Byrne, and both the Sydney Hills Business Chamber and the Parramatta Chamber.
