PATRICK BOWIE

Recipient of Community Service Award for Assistance to Aged Care and Disability Services

Patrick has been a community minded person all of his life. He has volunteered for the St Vincent de Paul society for over 30 years where he provided home visitation to people doing it tough, checking on their needs and lending a helpful ear to their troubles.

For the past 16 years he has been an Extraordinary Minister of Communion to the sick, with home and hospital visitations.

In the past 10 years Patrick has continued this wonderful community spirit at the Donald Coburn Village at the Anglican Retirement Village (ARV) in Castle Hill. The value of these visits came to the Club’s attention when the Patrick and his wife Margaret visited close relatives of a Rotary Club member at the ARV. These visits were a touching gesture and very much appreciated for some elderly residents.

Patrick was the proprietor of The Gaslight Cafe in Castle Mall and upon retirement drove for HADPAC for 5 years as well as the Council Community Bus.

Patrick is a very humble man who deserves to be honoured for his Community Service work.
