Nominate your local hero

Nominations are now open for The Hills Shire Council’s Australia Day Awards.

Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne said the awards present an opportunity to acknowledge the valued work and commitment of unsung heroes who give generously of their time and expertise to help others.

“We all know someone who inspires us to be the best we can be, including a friendly neighbour, a generous work colleague, a dedicated family member or friend,” Mayor Byrne said.

“It’s now your time to recognise these valuable people who go above and beyond by nominating them for an Australia Day Award.

“Being nominated for an Australia Day Award is a great honour and is a wonderful opportunity to pay tribute to someone who makes you proud to be Australian,” Mayor Byrne added.

Council will present awards in four categories:

  • Senior Citizen of the Year (65 years of age and older)
  • Citizen of the Year (25 – 65 years of age)
  • Young Citizen of the Year (24 years and under)
  • Community Group of the Year Award

Nominations close Friday, 24 November 2017.

Award winners will be announced at The Hills Shire Council’s Australia Day celebration, held on Friday, 26 January 2018.
