Nominate our local sporting stars

Do you know an outstanding sports person, team, coach or volunteer in the Hawkesbury? If you do, you should nominate them for the 2017 Hawkesbury Sports Awards proudly sponsored by Hawkesbury City Council, Lynwood Country Club, and Vintage FM. Nominations are now open.

A new Hawkesbury Sports Awards program was launched in 2016. The new Awards acknowledge sporting accomplishments of community members as well as the contributions of individuals to sporting clubs through support roles.

“Council has recognised hundreds of members of our sporting community for over ten years, first in the form of the Hawkesbury District Sports Medal, and then when the program evolved into the Sports Awards Program that it is today” Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Mary Lyons-Buckett said.

“Coaches, volunteers, team players and individual competitors of all ability levels should apply. No sporting accomplishment is too big or too small for these awards.”

“Council is extremely grateful for the support of Lynwood Country Club and Vintage FM in helping to make these awards possible,” she added.

Nominations are invited for one or more of the nine categories:

 Sports Person of the Year
 Junior Sports Person of the Year
 Senior Sports Person of the Year
 All Abilities Sports Person of the Year
 Team of the Year
 Official of the Year
 Coach of the Year
 Sporting Excellence Medallion
 Service to Sport Medallion

The community and all sporting groups in the Hawkesbury are encouraged to consider all those who contribute to their clubs and who have made an outstanding accomplishment in the sporting arena for nomination.
