New Year’s Eve Sky Show sparkles its way to success

The Hills Shire New Year’s Eve Live Site and Sky Show has beamed its way to success, with a record turnout of more than 4,450 people attending the celebration on Main Street, Castle Hill.

Mayor of The Hills Shire, Councillor Yvonne Keane, said the growing attendance by locals and visitors to the Sydney Hills over a three year period, is nothing short of phenomenal.

“The response to our New Year’s Eve Sky Show has blown us all away,” Mayor Keane said.

“The event is fast becoming a popular New Year’s Eve (NYE) destination attended by not only residents, but visitors to our beautiful region.

“We feel it really confirms that people want other options than the busy Sydney harbourside to celebrate the New Year,” Mayor Keane added.

NYE celebrations included three light and sound shows on a 40 metre long canopy and telecasts of the Sydney Harbour fireworks at 9pm and midnight.

Adding to the entertainment, a DJ played popular hits inside an altered Kombi Van.

Children were also treated to an arts and crafts workshop in their very own Kid Zone.

Mayor Keane thanked attendees and Council staff for helping to create a spectacular evening.

“The atmosphere on the night was just incredible,” Mayor Keane said.

“I would like to thank event-goers for being so well behaved and adding to the amazing atmosphere, as well as to all the Council staff who gave up their own night to make sure others had a fantastic evening.

“I would like to wish you all a very happy, healthy and successful 2017,” Mayor Keane added.
