New eResources for kids

Young library members can access some great online resources thanks to Hawkesbury Library Service, which now has wonderful online additions for children to encourage learning and the love of reading.

Designed for 3-6 year olds, Busy Things aims to make learning fun for kids with animated characters and colourful settings to encourage children to play and explore the hundreds of curriculum linked games, activities and downloadable resources.

Literacy Planet is a fun way for children to improve their literacy skills. The exercises are interactive and engaging and immediate feedback is received at the completion of every exercise. The program is designed for years K-6 but is adaptable to suit secondary school levels of ability and learning.

Tumble Book Library is a collection of animated talking picture books which teach kids the joy of reading in a format they will love. The site is easy for children to navigate and lets them hear stories as well as allowing them to read along with the narrator. Each story comes with puzzles and games geared to ensure reading comprehension. The selection of books will suit children of all reading levels in lower primary.

The Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Kim Ford agrees the resources are an entertaining and interactive way to learn.

“These resources are just fantastic and I wish the library had these when I was a kid,” Mayor Ford said.

“I encourage parents and carers to get free library memberships for their children so they can access the new online programs.”

To access these programs, simply go to the Library website www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au/library and look under the eResources tab. You will need your Library card number and PIN to log in.
