New Council elected for Hawkesbury

The Hawkesbury City Council election was held by the NSW Electoral Commission on Saturday, 10 September 2016.

Following the election results, Hawkesbury City Council welcomes and congratulates seven newly elected Councillors: Emma-Jane Garrow, Amanda Kotlash, Peter Reynolds, Sarah Richards, John Ross, Danielle Wheeler and Nathan Zamprogno. Congratulations to the five re-elected Councillors: Barry Calvert, Patrick Conolly, Mary Lyons-Buckett, Paul Rasmussen and Tiffany Tree.

The election of the Mayor of Hawkesbury for the 2016 – 2018 Mayoral Term and Deputy Mayor will take place at Council’s Extraordinary Meeting on Tuesday, 27 September 2016. Recent changes to legislation provide for the Mayor to hold the position for a two year term.

A Constitutional Referendum was also held at this election regarding the Hawkesbury Local Government Area being divided into wards. The majority of the community voted no, so Council will remain an undivided area with12 Councillors representing all electors.
