Museums Discovery Centre – an ‘Aladdin’s cave of wonders’ in the Hills

Mayor of The Hills Shire, Councillor Yvonne Keane, has described the newly-opened Museums Discovery Centre as an ‘Aladdin’s cave of wonders’ in the Hills following the official launch.

Formerly the Powerhouse Discovery Centre, the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences, the Australian Museum and Sydney Living Museums have collaborated to reimagine the space as the Museums Discovery Centre.

“It was incredibly exciting to participate in the official opening of this wonderful centre and get up close to some of the State’s best collections right here in Castle Hill,” Mayor Keane said.

“I was amazed at the scope and scale of the extraordinary objects on display – from giant locomotives to delicate pieces of porcelain, the Museums Discovery Centre is a feast for the senses,” she said.

Mayor Keane encouraged residents to take advantage of the free open weekend on 17 and 18 September.

“Why not take a vintage bus ride from the Orange Blossom Festival at Castle Hill Showground to the Museums Discovery Centre this weekend and experience some of Sydney’s most exciting collections?” she said.
