Mayor of the Hills Shire, Councillor Yvonne Keane has congratulated eleven individuals and groups for their valuable contributions made to The Hills community at a special ceremony held at the Orange Blossom Festival on Saturday.
Mayor Keane said the Sydney Hills Awards for Community Contribution acknowledges the importance of residents, community groups and essential services on their positive contributions to the Sydney Hills.
“The Hills is home to an extremely diverse, innovative and creative local community,” Mayor Keane said.
“To have eleven awards handed out is a testament to the strength of this area and the dedication these individuals and groups have in adding and shaping our spectacular region.
“I congratulate all the award recipients and wish them the very best of success as they continue to provide essential services to our vibrant community.”
The Crestwood Fair Committee was also recognised during the ceremony for their long-time service and dedication to the running of Crestwood Fair.
“The Crestwood Fair Committee has been instrumental in keeping the Crestwood Fair running for more than 25 years,” Mayor Keane said.
“Over the years, these volunteers have aided in creating a special day which brings families and friends together to celebrate the significant contributions and milestones made by our community members.
“What they have done is gratefully appreciated by The Hills Shire Council and it’s an honour to offer them a sincere and public thank you for their long-time commitment.”
The Sydney Hills Awards for Community Contribution aims to encourage, acknowledge and reward valuable contributions and outstanding achievements made by individuals and services.
Awards were judged by an independent judging panel appointed by Council and nominations were assessed using a framework that evaluated the entry on its strength of community impact.
